Aren’t these roses beautiful? I bet they’re dead easy to make… I only wish that I paid more attention and showed a bit more interest when my mother tried to teach me to crochet when I was young!

We’ve just bought a couple more of these gorgeous vintage 1960s embroidered pictures.

We already had this orange & blue wool work flower stem displayed in our bedroom.

We’re thrilled with our two new acquisitions – the workmanship is just amazing.

The design, textures & colours in this butterfly are just spectacular!

The same comments apply to this fabulous giant sunflower.

They were produced using a wide variety of wools, threads and stitches… the hand embroidery taking many, many hours to complete.

They have a real period feel, but are quite timeless – adding a lovely vintage handmade touch to any style of interior.

The vintage skirt below was the inspiration for today’s post. It recently caught my (Adelle’s) eye in the window of one of Manchester’s Northern Quarter vintage shops – a real bargain at just £2!

So this post is going to be a feast of fab flowers…

A gallery of items that incorporate daisy motifs or simple, stylised blooms.

These striking patterns often catch our eye on a crowded market stall or auction room full of boxes.

We had so many examples to chose from – this is just a small selection…

…hope you enjoyed our choices!

We’re a bit tardy with our Out & about post for February.

It began with snow (again!!) – it’s as if winter keeps reminding us that it’s still here at the start of each month.

February isn’t always the best month for walking, but there’s no choice with Fudge looking expectantly at you.

Once we’re outdoors, it’s fine – fresh air & exercise – time to chat or think… and there’s always something to see.

With no leaves on the trees you tend to notice things like bark, moss & lichen.

These old pack horse routes criss-cross our local area – slightly above the valley floor which was once flooded & marshy.

We also come across many of these disused barns and farmhouses – some of them have beautiful views.

It’s easy to imagine them restored – many even retain wonderful original features like stone steps, beams and mullioned windows.

Towards the end of the month we got the first signs that spring was approaching…

… with buds on the trees…

… daffodils and bluebells emerging…

… and planters around the town filled with crocuses & other early flowerers.

It’s nearly time to dig out those shorts & t-shirts!
