Covid forced us all to stay at home, many folks tried to make the most of it by bringing ‘going out’ indoors. Miss going to the pictures? Invest in a large-screen TV and a Netflix or Amazon Prime subscription. You can make your own popcorn for a fraction of the price of the stuff from a multiplex.

Miss going to the pub? Stock up on a variety of bottles of booze from your local offie, buy yourself a bar cart, some bar tools and a range of glassware and create your very own chill out room.

That’s just what Stefanie has done in a corner of her dining room. There’s even a Les Paul electric guitar to bang out some impromptu tunes!

What would be some of the essentials on your ultimate bar cart?

Pubs, clubs and other social venues are beginning to reopen; life is feeling a little more normal again. Many of us over the past year and a bit have shifted our home life to compensate. Perhaps creating an outdoor barbecue kitchen or an indoor home cocktail bar such as this one.

For those of us not comfortable going back to busy pubs just yet, a cocktail bar at home isn’t hard to create. Start by getting a bar cart that suits your décor – Art Deco fabulous, vintage Tiki vibe, Mad Men mid-century… you get the drift.

Stock your cart with your favourite tipples – Aromatic gins, single malt whiskies, bottles of bone dry fizz… And don’t forget your selection of mixers – miniature bottles or cans of tonic, soda, juices.

Next, are all your tools & accessories – glassware, ice bucket & tongs, shaker, squeezer, strainer, muddler, stirrers, straws… I feel a cocktail party coming on! What’s your poison?

We’ve featured a trio of drinks trolleys in our Price Points series a while ago – however, this bar cart is one of a kind!

Jayne tried on a couple of occasions to win one at auction but kept getting outbid. So, what did she do? She bought a SUNNERSTA trolley and, with her husband’s help, performed a brilliant IKEA hack on it!

It’s now got a glamorous golden glow, fresh wheels and has been kitted it out with new & vintage accessories, glassware… and most importantly – bottles of booze!

  2. Apollo copper cocktail set
  3. Mixology pineapple ice bucket
