I’ve shared my baking essentials in a previous post. If I had to choose the one tool at the top of my list, it would be my humble plastic dough scraper. Measuring jug sets, however, come a very close second.
I’m pretty useless at pouring or scooping ingredients and judging their approximate weight or volume. Something pretty fundamental in cooking and baking – guesswork would probably end in disaster!
All three of the measuring jug sets I’ve short-listed have their advantages. The plastic set is cheap as chips and the largest jug can hold a whopping 2 litres. The classic Pyrex set is ideal for hot jobs like jam-making and zapping things in the microwave. The Sophie Conran set is exquisitely beautiful and consists of matching mixing bowl, graduated measuring jugs and measuring spoons.
