Our new (to us) Passat estate car is still being well looked after; regular washing on the outside and vacuuming on the interior. Although it still smells like it’s just left the showroom, that scent won’t last forever. That’s why Justin has been looking at what car freshners he could get.
Naturally, any air freshener he buys would have to be black or dark grey… to match the colour of the car, you see.
The budget Little Trees is probably the most famous version of a car freshner. I don’t know what this black one smells like, but I think that the green one smells like the kind of pine disinfectant that’s used to clean a public toilet. I’d have to sniff this one ‘in person’ before buying it.
The mid-range option from The White Company is a very inconspicuous design, which is good. Objects dangling in your eye-line can be distracting. This one attaches to the air vent, so the scent is wafted around the car when the blower is turned on. There are 10 different fragrance oils (at a tenner each) from which to choose; although two, ‘Fireside’ and ‘Sleep’, are probably not the best options for use in a car! You wouldn’t necessarily need to use their oils, any essential oil – or blend of oils – could be subbed.
Much as we love our car and treat it well, the luxury version, at almost a hundred pounds, is probably a bit much. There are 9 Acqua di Parma fragrances on offer, however, refills are £40.00 a pop.
