We’ve sold a few these vintage Lord Nelson sugar containers in our shop in the past – but they don’t come along that often. This Brown Soft Sugar storage jar is currently being sold on eBay for Charity in support of Pembrokeshire Frame Ltd*. It’s very of its time – illustrated with the Tate + Lyle sugar bag design from the 60s or 70s.

As well as the Brown soft sugar storage jar, there are Icing sugar, Caster sugar and London demerara sugar available. The jars come in two sizes and you can also get the caster sugar design as a sugar shaker/dredger. We have a personal collection of these jars that we use on a daily basis – but alas, we need the large demerara jar to complete our set – if you have one to sell, please get in touch!

We often find these small tobacco tins in the mixed boxes we buy at auction. Usually they’re full of nails, pins, screws or tap washers. But this one contained a more colourful surprise…

…lots of old, paper-wrapped sugar lumps!

They look to date from the 1960s – someone had obviously started a little collection – quite rare survivors probably.

Some of them have lovely period graphics… very sweet!
