I’d been on the lookout for an orange vintage Kenwood Chef food mixer for a long, long time. They may be 30 or 40 years old but they were built to last and are proper work-horses. They’re not the kind of thing you happen across often in charity shops or auctions but they are out there.
Kenwood Chefs come up now & again on eBay but as they’re so heavy the postage often makes buying one prohibitive. In 2006, I eventually won one on eBay and we drove to collect it from Stockport – about an hour away. It’s been in regular use ever since!
A white (well, off-white, it needs a bit of a clean!) model is currently up for sale by Kirkwood Hospice* based in Huddersfield. It comes with 3 attachments – balloon whisk, k-beater and dough hook – and original recipe booklet.
*Kirkwood Hospice provides specialist care for those people in Kirklees facing life-threatening illness. We respect individual needs and wishes, caring for each person to help them achieve the best possible quality of life. Families, friends and carers are offered additional support and help during the patient’s illness and in bereavement.

I grew up with the orange version. It’s still in my parents’ house and I hope it will one day be mine. Meanwhile I use a white one 🙂
The orange ones are beautiful – would your parents do a swap? 😉
This was my mums food mixer when I was a child. I remember those attachments well! Just seeing it reminds me of her whisking egg whites.
When we bought ours it came with all sorts of attachments – a bean huller, a mincer, a shredder/slicer all still in their original boxes!
My mum had this as well and now so do I! I bid for this on eBay and won it. Thanks for pointing me towards it.
Good for you! It’s a great bit of kit, it will last you a lifetime! x
