I’m a sucker for bright interiors, so this rainbow bedroom really grabbed my attention when I saw it on Instagram.

After scrolling through the rest of Gill’s squares, it slowly dawned on me that we’d already featured her lovely, colourful home on our Get their look series. What can I say? I’m obviously a big fan!

This bling interiors space is a riot of colour, pattern and shine. Chris Beaumont designs and sells a range of these fab side tables in his Etsy shop.

He’s one half of husband & wife duo, The Electric Penguin. Their home – which was the epitome of bland magnolia throughout when they moved in – has been transformed. It’s now funky and fun and full of their DIY and upcycling marvels.

Get their look: Tweenie girl’s bedroom

Decorating a bedroom for a tweenie can be a challenging endeavour. They’re not babies or toddlers who are happy surrounded by soft toys, kinetic mobiles and primary colours. They’re not teenagers who want walls covered with posters of their favourite bands and actors, a vertical worktop for doing homework or gaming and a larger storage space for their growing wardrobe.

Tweenies are at that middle stage where they still let you have input into their fashion and décor choices, but are beginning to have their own firm ideas. This bedroom is a great example of a space that both parent and daughter will love and enjoy spending time.

Did you have to share a bedroom when you were young, or are you an only child? There’s a large gap between me and my two younger sisters, so I was lucky that I had a room to myself, and they had to share (until I was old enough to move out). So, from a young age, I had full creative control over how I wanted my bedroom to look!

I love the repeated use of the rainbow motif around the space; the wallpaper, wall art, bed linen and soft furnishings. It’s colourful and optimistic.

Price Points: Rainbow homewares

Last week, we featured a trio of tie dye décor items; this week, we’re focussing on three rainbow homewares.

Rainbows have been ubiquitous for the past couple of months with the ‘clap for carers’ initiative. There are handmade rainbow signs in front room windows thanking our essential workers – the posties, bin men and delivery drivers.

Pre-Covid-19, the rainbow was a motif adopted by the LGBT community. Rainbows are all about love, happiness and optimism – who doesn’t need a little bit of that around the house?
