This is definitely a grown ups room; a lounging library tos retire to for some down time. Wall to wall, floor to ceiling shelves of books. Don’t the brightly coloured covers look great against the dark, grey walls? Then there’s a very inviting, comfy looking sofa – and large coffee table to place some flowers, candles, more books of course… and perhaps a drink. It’s all very elegant – we love it!

This vintage boho living room has got a really lovely vibe. It’s a comfortable, liveable space for all the family. There’s quite a lot going on, but it retains a feeling of relaxing calm. There are lots of subtle colour tones working well together – skins and furs add warmth and bring interesting texture contrasts.

It’s a perfect partnership between vintage and high street finds. You could have a lot of fun re-creating a similar space, browsing the internet and trawling antique markets, adding your own twists with unusual or unique decorative pieces.

We’re really trying to make more of an effort with our Instagram feed this month. To help us along, we’re taking part in the #Myhousethismonth photo challenge. That’s where we came across the gorgeous sitting room of Sjanneke, a Dutch artist & graphic designer. She goes by the moniker, yellowcouchstories – I think you can tell why! Her sofa is just beautiful, and it’s shown off to its best against the petrol blue painted wall.

Designer, Joost Janszen lives in this Amsterdam apartment with his partner, Martijn. Their love of colour and vintage design is immediately apparent from this little snapshot.

They carry off the Memphis meets Midcentury Modern vibe with aplomb. Joost cites Le Corbusier and Ettore Sottsass as influences.
