Regular readers will know that we recently took on an allotment. It’s very overgrown and unloved but we’ve been enjoying the challenge of turning it into a productive and attractive plot. We’ve dug and weeded and made a few new beds. We’d be devastated if all comes to nothing because of a few pesky birds thinking the seeds we’ve sown are just a free lunch.
We don’t much like the look of those CDs hanging on strings as avian deterrents. A good, old fashioned scarecrow is a much more attractive & fun idea. We should be able to construct one ourselves from bamboo poles, straw and some old clothes but these scarecrow kits would be easier to construct and would probably produce a much more sturdy result!
