Forthcoming Attractions: Early April 2017

Vintage Homemaker tea trio | H is for Home

Just a quick little update to say that we’ve added a few new items to our web shop today. These are just three of half a dozen things.

First up, is the Homemaker tea trio designed by Enid Seeney for Ridgway Potteries in the 1950s. Next, is a Figgjo Flint Saga vase designed by Turid Gramstad Oliver. Finally, is a two-tone green ‘Palm’ design acrylic water or juice jug produced by Immanuel.

selection of recently acquired vintage homewares

Here’s a small selection of our recently sourced vintage homeware items heading to our webshop or antiques centre pitch soon.

selection of recently acquired vintage homewares including set of vintage headphones

We’ll start with a couple of pieces of modern technology. Well, modern for 40 or 50 years ago. The first is these rather cool 1970s stereo headphones. They were produced by Prinzsound & manufactured in Japan. We’ve just plugged them into our system and they’re working just fine – they’d look great with a vintage turntable or mid century modern room scheme.

selection of recently acquired vintage homewares including a green dial telephone

The second is this classic green telephone. It’s PO model no 746F. Modern ‘walk-around the house’ handsets are very convenient of course, but these vintage telephones have got so much presence & design quality. This model has a carry handle and long lead so it could almost be classed as a ‘walk-around’ itself!

selection of recently acquired vintage homewares including an Italian pottery ochre coloured horse figure

Next up we have a bit of a mystery. This gorgeous stylised horse dates from the 1950s or 60s, but we’re not sure who the maker is. It’s marked ‘Italy’ and it does have something of a Bitossi look, but a bit more research is necessary.

selection of recently acquired vintage homewares including a child's toy globe

These vintage toy globes are very cute – perfect for a child’s bedroom or indeed the shelves of a more grown-up lounge. A lovely flash of colour and it’s always interesting to look at the various country locations, name changes etc.

selection of recently acquired vintage homewares including a pair of Figgjo Flint mugs with Viking illustration

We nearly missed these mugs at a recent market. It was only on passing a stall for the second that we spied them amongst a huge pile of crockery. They were produced by Figgjo Flint of Norway in the 1960s and the Viking design is by Rolf Froyland. We have the same design on a pottery wall plaque, but we’ve never actually seen the mugs before.

selection of recently acquired vintage homewares including set of 3 orange enamel saucepans and blue boxed set of Prestige cooking utensils

And finally some wonderful vintage kitchenalia. The utensils are from the Sky-line range produced by Prestige. They have painted wooden handles and are in mint condition. These utensils are often a bit battered when we come across them, so to find a set boxed & unused with the original hanging rack is quite a rare find. The orange enamel pans are lovely too – they’ve got quite a Scandinavian folk art look. We’ve sold examples of this range in blue & green colourways previously, but this is the first time we’ve come across orange.

selection of vintage homewares including Babysham party pack in original packaging, red enamel Finel coffee pot designed by Anti Nurmesniemi, Arabia milk jug, pair of staplers, trio of milk bottles, Figgjo Flint Turi Daisy cup & saucer, set of tin drink coasters and trio of Altenkunstadt pottery vases designed by Cari Zalloni

Here’s a selection of vintage homewares that we added to the H is for Home webshop this weekend.

vintage Arabia milk jug and Figgjo Flint Turi Daisy cup & saucer

Some lovely Scandinavian pieces for kitchen/dining including the cow milk jug produced by Arabia and the Daisy cup & saucer by Figgjo Flint.

vintage red enamel Finel coffee pot designed by Anti Nurmesniemi

Also, this red enamel coffee pot designed by Anti Nurmesniemi for Finel – such a classic piece of Scandinavian mid century modern!

trio of vintage blue circle Altenkunstadt vases

Moving a short distance across Europe to Germany – this trio of vases were designed by Cari Zalloni for Altenkunstadt Pottery. They’re from his ‘Cirkel’ range and the Op Art pattern is really striking. We’ve listed them separately, but they do look great grouped together. If you’d like to re-home them as a family, then we can do a special price on the three together!

vintage Babysham party pack in original packaging

These Babycham glasses were a good find. You quite often come across them looking a bit tired (well, they have been partying!). The logos & gold rims are often well rubbed, but these are absolutely mint in their original display box.

three vintage milk bottles advertising Brooke Bond Tea, Ready Brek and Kellogg's Corn Flakes

A bit more advertising ware. These milk bottles were popular in the 1970s & 80s – much more exciting that a drab Tetrapak carton! You could decant your milk into them to brighten up your morning cereal – or they’re perfect for cut flowers too.

pair of vintage staplers

We’ve been picking up a lot of industrial vintage items recently. These staplers fit in very well with that theme adding a vintage touch to a desk or shelf whilst remaining completely functional.

collection of Tor Viking pottery designed by Turi Gramstad Oliver for Figgjo Flint

We’ve just acquired a quantity of Figgjo Flint pottery. Someone got in touch when they saw us in the Homes & Antiques vintage Norwegian design feature. It had been lurking in a loft for many years.

It’s from the Tor Viking range designed by Turid “Turi” Gramstad Oliver. You can find out much more about Turi and some of her other designs in this Squidoo lens. There’s even an 11-minute video interview with Turi over on Vimeo – you’ll need to be able to understand Norwegian though!

We plan on splitting up the set into cups & saucers, trios, sets of plates etc. when we list them in our shop. Get in touch soon if you’re interested in buying the lot!

P.S. Here’s all the other Figgjo Flint items we currently have in the H is for Home shop.

selection of vintage items sourced in August 2011 including a vintage carry picnic set, pair of Welsh wool purses, Oxo tin, Viners Splayds and Figgjo Flint bud vase

It’s a while since we did one of our Forthcoming Attractions posts – it features items that we’ve picked up in the previous week that were in the process of photographing & cataloging – items that will hit our website in the very near future.

Some nice bright pottery to start – the slender jug or bud vase is from the Saga range by Figgjo Flint – the cheery floral jug was produced by Sadler in the 1960s.

We love this vintage 1950s lemonade/water jug – very ‘Festival of Britain’.

pair of Welsh wool purses from a selection of vintage items sourced in August 2011

The Viners Splayds come in their original packaging – perfect for garden parties & barbecues. And not one, but two Welsh Wool purses bought off the same stall – their colours & patterns are so distinctive.

carry case for vintage picnic table & chair set from a selection of vintage items sourced in August 2011

It all sits on a beech coloured table – it’s part of a picnic/camping set with which comes with 4 canvas stools – and which all folds up to form the carry case.  Ideal for the car boot or camper van!

vintage Figgjo Flint milk and sugar set

Figgjo Flint is a Norwegian pottery company still producing today.

Our favourites of theirs are the folk art and landscape-inspired designs of the 1950s & 60s – ranges such as Lotte, Daisy, Sicilia and Market.
