Auction alert: Timed Designer Handbag & Accessories

HERMÈS BOX COURCHEVEL BOAT SAC A MALICE

Lots Road Auctions is holding a Timed Designer Handbag & Accessories Auction. There are a total of 60 lots; all vintage scarves and designer handbags, with lots finishing on Monday 13th March 2023 from 8pm.

I’m known to collect the odd vintage handbag, there are a couple in this sale that I’d like to add to my wardrobe. I like the quirky and the colourful and my favourite in the sale is the blue Hermès shoulder bag decorated with a steamship.

National treasure, Grayson Perry, has been name checked in two of our blog posts in a single week – this time it’s a collaboration he did with Osprey to produce a limited edition bag.

Some of the items have estimates running into the mid-thousands of pounds; however, Most are less than a couple of hundred.

Auction alert: The Art & Design Sale

Sir Grayson Perry CBE, RA, Lion Queen plate

Although we’ve known about Grayson Perry for years, mainly due to his famous penchant for cross-dressing, we didn’t really know much more about him and his work. Thanks to watching his 3 series of Grayson’s Art Club, he’s now a firm favourite (as is his wife, Philippa) in our house – for his work, his warm personality and his infectious laugh.

Today’s featured auction includes a pottery plate by him (pictured above) – and another by Philippa – both with very reasonable estimates. In addition, are a couple of pumpkins by ceramic artist, Yayoi Kusama, who we previously featured on our blog over 20 years ago.

The Art & Design Sale at Cheffin’s takes place on Thursday 23rd February 2023, from 10am. A total of 442 lots come under the hammer and we’ve highlighted eleven of our favourite ones below.

Bid live and online at The Saleroom where additional fees will be charged.

Auction alert: Jewellery, Porcelain, Pottery & Collectables

THREE GLASS ONION WINE BOTTLES

Rogers Jones & Co will soon be holding a Jewellery, Porcelain, Pottery & Collectables sale at their Cardiff site. It takes place on Friday 3rd February 2023 from 10am.

As usual, they have quite a few Welsh interest lots available. My favourite is probably the large 19th Century love spoon. It’s the perfect present for St Dwynwen’s Day or Dydd Santes Dwynwen (the Welsh version of Valentine’s Day)… which happens to be today!

Please note, there’s no room bidding, it’s an online sale only.

To register to bid on the Rogers Jones & Co website, you can only pay via debit card. If you’re a winning bidder, payment for goods is strictly by bank transfer only and your invoice must be settled within 3 working days. They don’t accept payment in person at the saleroom. The buyer’s premium is 24% inclusive of VAT.

Alternatively, you may bid via The Saleroom website; however, there’ll be addition fees to pay.

The auction house does not offer in-house P&P – except for small items that can easily fit in a Jiffy bag. This service is at the buyer’s cost and risk. They do, however, recommend couriers that you can contact. If you’re able to collect, it will be by appointment only and not on sale days.
