Vintage Pifco fan (ends 25 May, 2015 20:37:00 BST)

We know warm weather feels like a distant memory at the moment – but it’s the bank holiday weekend – summer must be on its way!

This gorgeous vintage 1950s Pifco fan would look the business on your office desk or craft room worktop. Keeping you cool while you work during those sweltering summer days! 🙂 It’s in full working order and is currently up for sale by Isabel Hospice*. It’s a mere £6.50 at the moment, with just over 2 days left to get a bid in if you fancy it.

*Isabel Hospice is a charity needing to raise nearly £4 million per annum to provide their free services to the people of eastern Hertfordshire. Their ethos is that they treat the whole person, not simply the illness. They offer a complete hospice service through their team of Community Nurse Specialists, a 16-bed, in-patient hospice, a day hospice, outreach day hospices, hospice at home and a family support and bereavement service.

Vintage Collection of Pelican Books on bird watching and wild plants & flowers for sale by & in support of Dorothy House Foundation(ends 24 May, 2015 16:32:25 BST)

Yesterday we highlighted a range of bird-watching handbooks to help you identify some of our avian friends. Lo & behold we found this great lot available on eBay for Charity. We love vintage Penguin and Pelican Books anyway, but this lot covers everything you need for doing a bit of nature-spotting!

There are four books on bird identification, and the other four classify wild flowers, herbs and grasses. The set is for sale by Dorothy House Foundation*. The opening bid is £5 with £3 on top for postage and packaging. That’s a pound a book – bargain!

*Dorothy House Foundation aims to work with their community to develop, influence and provide palliative and end of life care that meets the needs of all people with a life-limiting illness. Their purpose is to ensure that the very best care is provided to those in need.

Charity Vintage: Lord Nelson sugar jars

complete set of large Lord Nelson sugar jars for sale on eBay for Charity by Dove House Hospice(ends 12 May, 2015 20:04:40 BST)

Dove House Hospice* is currently selling this complete set of large vintage Lord Nelson sugar jars. It took us AGES to complete the set we own; picking them up one by one, as and when we came across them. Here’s a ready made set!

They’ve already had a couple of bids but they’re still currently only £16 + £7.70 postage. They are described as being in ‘good’ condition.  There’s no damage and all their seals are intact. I’d say that would mean they’re in excellent condition – all they need is a wash in soapy water!

If anyone has one of the smaller, matching sugar shakers/dredgers for sale, let me know. I won’t consider our set to be truly ‘complete’ until we have both the caster sugar and the icing sugar shaker in our possession! 🙂

*Dove House Hospice offers specialist palliative care to adults with life limiting illnesses, palliative care is the total care of a patient whose disease is no longer able to be cured. There is no charge for their services & they rely on funds raised in the community.

Charity Vintage: Orange rotary dial telephone

vintage orange rotary dial telephone for sale on eBay for Charity by The Prince Of Wales Hospice(ends 6 May, 2015 20:47:50 BST)

The Prince of Wales Hospice* is currently selling this vintage orange rotary dial telephone – very Mod! It would look fab in our kitchen but I’ve been banned from having any more orange items in the room!

A vintage dial phone is so much more enjoyable to use and hold. If I’m going to be on hold for 20 minutes waiting to talk to ‘customer services’, I’d much rather be on this than one of those ugly, flimsy ones that are being manufactured these days.

It’s in full working order and looks to be in really good condition – it was manufactured by Pye way back in 1974. The starting bid is only a tenner with £4 on top for delivery.

*The Prince of Wales Hospice provides specialist palliative care to those over the age of 18 with a progressive incurable illness. They provide our services free of charge to a catchment area of 170,000 people at a cost of £2 million per year but only about one-third of this is received from the NHS.
