Danielle and her family live in a Grade II-listed cottage in Hertfordshire and this modern rustic kitchen-diner is situated in what would have once been the stable block. In the intervening years it had been used as a garage.
The heritage department at her local council instructed that the beautiful original floor had to remain intact, so it was lifted, cleaned of muck and oil and relaid brick by brick over a layer of underfloor heating. It must have been painstaking and a labour of love, but doesn’t it look incredible?!
