The Old Forge is a luxury holiday let located in Sand Hutton, North Yorkshire. As the name suggests, the building is a former forge.
The feel of the space is in keeping with its industrial roots; the beautiful wooden struts & beams and red brick wall are intact. The choice of wall and ceiling lighting carries on in that vein.
However, the large, flickering wood-burning stove, expansive area rug and ample soft furnishings lends a snug, homely feel.
Behind the wood-burner is a weathering steel (sometimes known as Corten steel) clad and riveted wall with a warm and beautiful rust patination.
The pair of roomy sofas are positioned perpendicular to each other and facing the focal fireplace – the perfect social situation. I’d love to be able to spend a few nights here with friends having a chat over a few glasses of bubbly!
