Price Points: Bamboo bedding sets

Bamboo bedding sets

There’s nothing quite like the simple luxury of freshly laundered, box-fresh bedding. It’s an instant mood booster and the perfect way to end the day. For years, we’ve appreciated the qualities of our favourite bedding materials: the renowned softness of Egyptian cotton, the natural breathability of linen and the cosy warmth of flannelette.

However, as we become more environmentally conscious, we’ve been looking at alternative fabrics that are kinder to the planet. This led us to discover bamboo, a material that has really impressed us. Compared to conventional cotton and synthetic fabrics, bamboo offers significant eco-advantages. Its rapid growth, reduced need for pesticides and water, and biodegradable nature make it a far more sustainable choice. For our bedroom, we’ve opted for a calming grey colour scheme, and we were delighted to find that bamboo bedding is available in this versatile shade.

To give you some inspiration, we’ve researched and found three excellent bamboo bedding sets in grey that we think offer both comfort and eco-credentials.

  1. Bamboo bedding set: £79.00, kudd.ly

Why would anyone settle for ordinary bed sheets when they could have the extraordinary restorative benefits of bamboo? Our bed sheets can heal and maintain skin and respiratory health. They’re perfect for hot sleepers and anyone with allergies. If you want a durable, renewable alternative to traditional bedding, you’ve found it!
Our sheet set is crafted with 300 thread count bamboo, one of the most renewable plant resources on the planet! Bamboo forests can grow faster than any other type of tree and they are one of the biggest consumers of atmospheric CO2.
So you can rest easy in your cosy bed knowing you’re making a good choice for the planet!

  2. Bamboo duvet & pillow case set: £110.00, Etsy

Q: What’s better than being unbelievably comfortable in your brand new bedding?
A: Being unbelievably comfortable in your brand new bedding while being kind to the planet, of course. The Lune Living bamboo duvet & pillow case set is soft, comfortable and gentle on your skin. – Is durable

    The set includes:

    Plastic free
We use ties instead of buttons ensuring that we provide a completely plastic-free product.
    Hypo-allergenic and antibacterial
Bamboo is an incredibly versatile fabric with thick fibres staying warm in winter yet breathable in summer. It’s naturally hypoallergenic and antibacterial making it great for children who are more susceptible to allergies.

Small scale home improvements that can make a big difference

Small scale home improvements that can make a big difference

Home improvements are one of the most engaging and exciting home based tasks in which you can get involved. They definitely trump cleaning and chores, and they can make all the difference to the overall look and feel of your living spaces.

But many people shy away from home improvements, thinking they take too much financial investment, time and effort. Of course, there are many home improvement projects that can be included in this category. Major renovations such as extensions, loft conversions and more are capable of being greatly disruptive and can cost a huge sum.

However, not all home improvements need to be taken to this level. Instead, there’s a host of small scale improvements that you can choose from that will still have a hugely positive impact on your home’s value and appearance. Here are a few that you might like to take into consideration!

Painting and decorating

Feel like one of your rooms needs a bit of a refresh? This is where painting and decorating can make all the difference. Painting your room can help to make it feel fresh and new. You can choose a new colour scheme or you can stick to the old one. Either way, walls will appear fresh, even and bright. If you’re choosing a new colour, make sure to patch test it on your walls to see how it dries. If you don’t have much time on your hands or don’t want to risk messing up, you can use a professional painter decorator who will have the job completed quickly and to a high standard.

Window shutters

Few homes have window shutters but Plantation Shutters can make all the difference to your home’s functionality and design. Not only do they have aesthetic value, but they can also help with managing the light and temperature levels in your home, allowing sunlight and heat in or blocking them out. Consider styles and colours that go well with your home’s interior as well as exterior.

Kitchen counter-tops

We tend to accept the counter-tops we have in our kitchens when we move into our home. For many of us, they don’t even stand out as something that can be changed. But you can always replace your worktops with something of a different material, colour or design. Popular options include granite, marble and quartz. Make sure to look into the qualities of any counter-tops you’re choosing to make sure that they suit your individual needs well. Some are less absorbent and resistant to spills and stains, some less so. Some are more durable than others too.

Exteriors

When did you last consider the kerb appeal of your home? Sure, the majority of us focus on our interiors when it comes to home improvements, but working on the outside of your home can add value and make you feel happier in your living space too. Try painting the front door, fixing squeaky gates, making sure fence panels are even and more. These small steps will make a huge difference overall.

Each of these changes can have a huge impact on your home without entailing the money, time and effort involved in full scale home renovations. Hopefully, one or two will appeal to you!

How do we know that this is a 50s-inspired kitchen? There are a few clues in the photograph; the chequerboard black & white tiled floor, the pastel colours of the wall, tiled splash-backs and cabinetry. Added to these are the accessories – vintage Bush radio, retro wall art, vintage storage tins and the wonderful mid century modern seat pad on that folding stool.

If you’re a fan of the era, it can be easy, and fun too, to transform a room in your house to reflect the style of the time. It doesn’t have to be the kitchen, you can apply changes to any room in your house. Use colour, furniture, pattern and vintage homewares to bring a 1950s vibe to your interior.
