For a few months now, I’ve been saying, ‘What was that?’ and ‘pardon?’. Justin keeps telling me that I should go and have my ears syringed. I keep saying that there’s nothing wrong with my hearing, he just needs to speak up!
If you begin to suffer with pressure in one or both ears, headaches or tinnitus, perhaps you have a build up of ear wax. There are a few everyday substances that you can use to soften hardened ear wax that’s blocking your ear canal. Olive oil, sodium bicarbonate (as above in #1) and acetic acid. The active ingredient in Otex (#2) is urea hydrogen peroxide.
Never, never, never try to clear wax out using a cotton bud or – heaven forbid – hair slide or match stick! It’s dangerous, and you’ll probably only send it down the canal more and compact it still farther. The first thing you should try is one of these ear wax removers.
I, for one, am not confident or comfortable about sticking something long or sharp down my own (or anyone else’s, for that matter!) ear canal and possibly injuring my ear drum. If drops and careful syringing don’t solve the issue after a couple of attempts, visiting a professional is highly recommended.
