We returned home from a week away a few days ago to find our garden on red alert. Even though we’d given all the plants (especially the ones in pots & containers) a good soaking in the run-up to us setting off, a few of them needed the plant equivalent of CPR. In our absence, the garden endured a week of no rain and tropical temperatures and, despite moving the ones we could into the shade, the extreme conditions still took their toll.
We’ve featured water butts in the past, however, there are other useful water saving devices for the garden. This post is especially timely, with many regions in the UK looking at the possibility of hose pipe bans coming into force.
Our favourite idea above is diverting the ‘grey’ water from our bath, shower and washing machine into a store to be used to water the plants. A bonus being the washing up liquid and soap help to keep aphids at bay! I’ve had a read of discussions about the kit online, and it can be fitted easily in under an hour.
