When I first saw Sarah’s Instagram feed, I couldn’t decide which space in her house to feature – they’re all so fabulous! I finally decided on the black and white living room.
The focal point in the room is the unusual ceiling-suspended real fire. It runs on bio-ethanol, which means it doesn’t need a chimney or flue. Also, compared to other solid fuel fires (coal or wood) it produces considerably less particulate matter and fumes.
The black Soho room divider doors are a great way to partition the black and white living room and dining area, without cutting them off from each other completely.
Wall art can be a quick, easy and often cheap way of adding impact to a room. Sarah has taken two, identical monochrome framed works and hung them side-by-side… with one ‘upside down’. It looks amazing!
The black and white scheme brings a serenity to the space; the marble coffee table, the off-white carpet, the storage, the mobile, the accessories… even the doggies are matching tonally!
Check out the rest of her Insta-squares for more bold, graphic interiors – in both her current and previous properties.
