Lara, who lives in the house we’re featuring in today’s Get their look post, leads workshops in gold leaf application. You can see her stunning metallic handiwork throughout her home.

In the square above, she’s given her fire surround the gilt treatment. If you go for a tour through her Insta-stream, she’s given her Midas touch to other things. Classy-looking dining chairs, personalised chests of drawers, glittering stars on ceilings, shimmery lettering on doors & signs… even her roll-top bath has been copper-leafed on the outside.

In addition to her gold leaf work, Lara is a dab hand at creating wall murals. I love last week’s Gucci wallpaper, but Lara’s birds in her bedroom – on their shimmering background – are off the scale!

Get their look: Gold polka-dot kitchen

Sometimes it can be a challenge putting your own stamp on a home if you’re living in rented accommodation. This studio apartment in California has many lessons that you can take away if your space is the property of somebody else.

The gold polka-dot kitchen is uniquely individual; however, it was created using easy to affix (and remove) vinyl decals. Major impact, and minor effort Major impact, and minor effort when it comes to moving day and you need to restore the interior to the way it looked when you first arrived.

Another useful tip is hanging pretty patterned fabric on the walls instead of wallpaper. You coat the wall with liquid starch before smoothing the fabric over it and applying more starch over the top. Again, it’s easy to remove – simply sponge it down with a with warm water.

This dramatic black and gold hallway just took my breath away when I spotted it this week. And it’s done the same for lots & lots of people – including Elle Decoration’s ex-Editor-in-Chief, Michelle Ogundehin and interiors maven and shop owner, Abigail Ahern who both featured it on their Instagram feeds.

The stairs were painstakingly done using sheets of real gold leaf – aren’t they stunning? A real talking point!

The Habitat wallpaper has now been discontinued; however, Hulanicki has reissued the pattern in 3 metallic colourways in association with Graham & Brown.

Get their look: Swoon Worthy boho glam kitchen

We love this space! This Swoon Worthy boho glam kitchen belongs to Kimberly Duran; Pennsylvania-born, Manchester-based, multi-award-winning lifestyle blogger.

Swoon Worthy is the name of her blog and ‘eclectic boho glam’ is the fitting phrase she uses to describe her style.

Kimberly’s bold use of black, metallics and print is in evidence all around her house however, it’s in her kitchen that we love it the most. Copper, brass and gold against a background of black is a match made in heaven and so, so current. The open, overhead shelves show off her collection of beautiful glass and china to great effect.
