Get their look: Characterful hallway

Characterful hallwaycredit

On our weekly Get their look series, we feature mainly bedrooms, kitchens, lounges and dining rooms. I think this may be the first time we’ve featured an entranceway.

Despite this, I think it’s an important part of the house. It’s often where you pick up and lay down your keys, post, coats, umbrellas and outdoor footwear. More importantly, it’s where visitors get their first impression of your home. This characterful hallway promises great things laying ahead in the rest of the house… and you won’t be disappointed. Nicola Broughton – blogger, Instagrammer (and Investment Director to boot) has a beautiful home!

Get their look: Scandi-inspired entrance hall

Scandi-inspired entrance hallcredit

Our house has a tiny porch. We’d love to have something like this Scandi-inspired entrance hall. Somewhere roomy enough to remove & store muddy walking boots, towel down a wet dog, hang coats & scarves, stash shopping bags, hang up keys, leave the incoming & outgoing post…

The space above is very practical; a floor that’s easy to mop, sweep or vacuum… or ride your trike across! A tricky under-stair area is used to store paperwork and sports kit and to feed the pets. An 8-hook coat rack to hang the whole family’s coats. A collapsible table that’s useful for jotting down quick shopping lists with a simple stool which can be stored beneath.

Just because it’s a transient part of the house where people don’t linger, doesn’t mean that it should be overlooked in the style stakes.

Get their look: Double-height hallway

Double-height hallway

We love a proper hallway off the front entrance. Not only does it create a path through to the rest of the house, it’s a place to hang coats, take off muddy wellies & walking boots, deposit house keys and mail. Ours is a bit cramped to say the least. This double-height hallway is the epitome of adult cool. Bright & airy, sophisticated furnishings, clear of clutter and creates an expectation of a great interior ahead. Hopefully, we’ll get a space like this one day.
