Eastbourne Auction will shortly be holding their Antiques, Collectables & General including jewellery sale. The online only auction starts on Wednesday 7th September 2022 from 10am. A humongous 2,454 lots will be available over the 3-day event.

There are a few of our regular favourites up for grabs; Troika studio pottery, Whitefriars studio glass and quite a few lots of various light elm Ercol furniture. One of my favourite items is the unusual Bernard Rooke vase.

The buyer’s premium stands at 30% inc. VAT (with a minimum of £2.40 per lot). Bidding is also available via The Saleroom and EasyLiveAuction. Please check each website’s additional charges.

Ever since we lived in Todmorden, we’ve been great fans and collectors of contemporary Northern art and Northern fine art painters, in particular, such as Peter Stanaway, Will Turner, Geoff Key and Olivia Pilling. GRAYSON PERRY '100% Art' plate - 2020

Lyon & Turnbull‘s Contemporary & Post-War Art / Prints & Multiples sale is this week’s Auction Alert highlight. The auction takes place on Wednesday 19th January 2022, from 10am (lots: 1 to 184). After a recess, lots 185 to 317 go under the hammer from 2pm.

The majority of the lots for sale are by British (especially Scottish) artists. There’s a showing of ‘Young British Artists‘ (YBAs) including examples from Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin. There’s a wonderful plate by ‘National Treasure’, Grayson Perry (pictured above) and a couple of thought-provoking artworks by Banksy. There are works by a few artists from across the pond, such as Keith Haring, Andy Warhol and Nan Goldin.

There’s a buyer’s premium of 25% on the hammer price of each lot (up to £300,000) then 20% thereafter (exclusive of VAT). Bidding live via the Lyon & Turnbull website and app doesn’t incur extra fees. They offer a shipping service and also provide details of other companies that they recommend.

Our featured auction this week is Lockdales – The Fine Sale #203. It takes place across two days – the 1st & 2nd September from 9.30am. The auctioneers are based in Martlesham Heath, IP5 3RF (just east of Ipswich). However, as usual, you can bid online and organise with them to have items shipped to you.
