Much more Mills Moore

We mentioned some newly-acquired, vintage Mills Moore cutlery in a recent Forthcoming Attractions post. Here are some more images of the set.

This range of cutlery, dating from the 1960s, is one of the items that we’re most often asked about – in terms of current availability or asking to be alerted if we get more in stock.

So here’s that alert! It’s not been listed in the web shop as yet, so first dibs for readers of our mail-outs and blog.

As you can see, it’s a really stylish range of cutlery.

Beautifully made from stainless steel with lovely walnut handles, this vintage Mills Moore cutlery is a mid century modern classic. No wonder it was selected and endorsed by the Design Centre in London!

We have at least six each of all the knives, forks and spoons as shown above – plus a very nice matching corkscrew and bottle opener. Drop us a line if you’re interested!

Forthcoming Attractions: April 2019

It’s been a while since we did one of our Forthcoming Attractions posts. We did actually hold back from buying new stock for a while during the deepest winter months. However, spring has now sprung, so we’re getting back out on the vintage trail. Here’s a small selection of our recent finds.

This pair of 1950s/60s plates have illustrations featuring a couple at leisure – playing music together in one, and fishing in another. They’re very sweet, whimsical & charming – and the work of a designer whose name is new to us – one, Arvid Reikvam. We’ll certainly have to investigate him further. The plates were produced by a very familiar company however – Stavangerflint of Norway.

On to another well-known maker of vintage Scandinavian pottery – indeed, another Norwegian factory, Egersund. We love this simple, stylised flower design. We have a few pieces dotted around our own house. This handled dish has a multitude of possible uses – or it could just sit on a shelf looking pretty!

Next up is a bit of vintage lighting, something we’re always keen to get hold of – good looking and useful. This flexi-neck desk lamp has a real space age style. We like the shade detailing too, three narrow slots allowing shafts of light upwards in addition to the main downward directional task light.

We couldn’t resist these vintage metal locker numbers. We loved the bold orange colour and fabulous aged patina. Someone out there must have the perfect use for them!

Last, but certainly not least, we have a large quantity of 1960s Mills Moore cutlery. This beautifully designed range is made from stainless steel with walnut handles. We get many requests for this cutlery so we’re sure that there’ll be some interested parties amongst our readers. We actually have six of each of all the knives, forks and spoons shown above.

We’ve got more Mills Moore!

One of our most frequent customer enquiries is, “Do you have any more of the Mills Moore cutlery?”

People find it here on our blog, our Instagram posts and archived shop listings. Quite often, we have to say, “Sorry, no, not at the moment.” But not today!

We’ve just listed a fabulous set of the 1960s stainless steel Mills Moore cutlery – 6 of everything – 42 pieces in all.

This range definitely appears to be the most sought after – and we also very much like the form of this particular design. We love the walnut handles too, with their warm colour and differences in tone. The quality is excellent and they feel really good in the hand.

It’s been listed today, so if you’re one of those people who’s been keen to get hold of some, now’s your chance!

Forthcoming Attractions: Mid July 2017

We put loads of new items in the web shop last week – one of our a ‘Forthcoming Attractions‘ posts would have been very much in order, but we didn’t get round to it – slapped wrists! We vowed to do one soon though – so here it is! It’s a much smaller selection this week, but some nice pieces all the same.

For starters, a lovely selection of glass. Various sizes, shapes and colourways – and some famous designers such as Per Lutken and Otto Brauer.

Next up we have a very cute little spice rack. There’s a wall-mountable metal shelf with six labelled metal tin pots. It dates from the 1950s era and is in very good condition – the perfect vintage touch for any kitchen.

We don’t normally pick up part sets of cutlery, but we had good reason this time. We had some of this walnut-handled Mills Moore cutlery in our web shop a couple of years ago – and so many people have enquired about it since it sold that we vowed to keep an eye out for more. Perhaps someone out there would like to add these soup and dessert spoons to their collection. It’s very stylish and beautifully made.

One of last weeks item’s was a Hornsea ‘Birthday Mug’ by John Clappison. We’ve decided to add another example from our collection this week – a magnificent spooky witch design. The sweet verse underneath reads:

If I but had THREE WISHES
And only one came true,
I’d ride with these THREE WITCHES
Upon their broom to YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY

From monochrome to eye-popping colour! This fab orange fondue set looks like the perfect thing for a cold winter’s evening. Log fire, glass of wine, melting cheese – bliss!

…and finally a late arrival (today in fact) – the Esquire Drink Book dating from the 1950s. It’s interesting, informative and funny… and is packed with the most gorgeous illustrations by renowned artist (and one of our personal favourites) Bill Charmatz. We already own a copy, so this one’s for sale.

As usual, these pieces will be split between web shop and physical shop, but blog readers will have first dibs – so let us know if anything catches your eye!
