Luxury Egyptian cotton towel collection

Luxury Egyptian towels and bathrobe in latte | H is for Home

We’ve been sent a lovely towel bundle from The Bath Store. Their timing was perfect! We’ve just started the repairs and redecoration of the bathroom in our little Welsh cottage.

Framed original painting of a seascape

This beach-scape painting, which we really love, was the inspiration and starting point for our new scheme. We wanted to pick up all those complimentary tones of stone, charcoal, coffee, taupe and cream.

Wicker basket and pile of towels on a shelf above a painting

We have white stone painted walls and woodwork painted in Little Greene shades called ‘White Whisper’, ‘Dash of Soot’ and ‘ Rolling Fog’. There’s natural wicker and wood dotted throughout the space, aged metalwork, some hand-thrown pottery and grey Welsh wool blinds in the ‘Senedd’ pattern.

The towels are a wonderful addition to the room. They’re made from 700 GSM luxury Egyptian cotton in ‘Latte’… a perfect shade.

In addition to being the ideal colour, they’re also lovely quality – plush and very absorbent.

The matching bathrobe feels soft and weighty – just what you need to wrap up in after a relaxing bubble bath.

We used to dread going in the old bathroom as it was cold and a bit bleak. It’s becoming much more inviting with each of the improvements that are made. There’s now heating and new fittings, redecoration is well under way… and that pile of warm, fluffy, Egyptian cotton towels to look forward to!

This coffee is something to rave about!

Bag of coffee beans from Rave Coffee Roasters | H is for Home

We’ve been sent the Espresso Lover Taster Pack from Rave Coffee to review. Regular readers will know that we’re big coffee lovers, so we were really looking forward to the task.

The trio of beans arrived swiftly after we placed our order. They’re packaged in oxo-biodegradable bags to ensure they’re delivered as fresh as possible, in an eco-conscious way.

We love really strong, rich roast coffee, hence the reason we chose their espresso assortment. I must say, ‘The Italian Job’ is my favourite of the three. It’s the strongest, yet has a smoothness and nuttiness that works in a classic espresso, doppio or macchiato.

Not that the other offerings weren’t enjoyable too! The ‘Signature Blend’ is their popular all-rounder; so if you like your coffee a different way each time, this is the one for you. The Chatsworth is big on chocolatey flavours, so suits a caffè latte, espressino or caffè mocha.

Don’t worry if you don’t own a coffee grinder, Rave also supplies all their coffees as ready-ground beans (in a choice of five different grinds) as well as compostable Nespresso compatible pods. Whether you prefer to make a one off purchase or have a regular subscription deal, Rave has a coffee option for you. Single origin for the connoisseur, decaf for the insomniac, green beans for the home roaster and taster packs for the inquisitive.

What better way to start today’s lazy Sunday than with warm croissants straight from the oven and delicious, freshly-brewed coffee… especially with the extra hour in bed?!

In addition to the one that we’re giving away, we’ve been given another one to test drive and review.

It’s a classic satchel shape & size and is incredibly useful and versatile. It boasts both a shoulder strap and a handle depending on how you prefer to carry your bag.

Being black, it means that it will go with any outfit; it’s smart enough for the office and casual enough for a trip to the pub. It features lots of useful compartments and nooks & crannies to store your phone, writing implements and such like.

Interior elasticated slot for pen or pencil

Just answer the following question to enter. What are some of the items that you always keep in your ‘everyday’ bag? Anything unusual?

Say hello to Edgar!

Win an Edgar side table from pib and H is for Home

Hi folks, how’s your summer been so far? For this month’s competition, we’ve teamed up with our old friends pib once again to offer one of our readers an Edgar side table.

Edgar side table empty

The table has got quite an industrial feel when it comes to materials and styling. It takes the form of a wooden drawer or tray-like top, with splayed, yellow metal hairpin legs.

Close up of the knob on the side table

It’s a very versatile piece of furniture. It makes a perfect bedside or sofa end table. There’s plenty of space for a book, reading glasses, drink, lamp and so on. It could also make a good little crafting table filled with pens, paints, sewing accessories and the like. Or perhaps use it in the garden alongside your deckchair.

We’ve been using it beside our bed where it holds a book, reading lamp, glass of water and jug of fresh flowers. How you use it is completely up to you if you win the giveaway!
