6 vintage prints of beautiful girls

Justin brought home not one, not two, but six pretty girls last week!

vintage print of a dark-haired beauty

They truly are a bevy of beauties…

…blondes, brunettes and a rather gorgeous redhead.

They date from the 1950s – very early Mad Men – Betty Draper and Joan Holloway spring to mind.

We can’t make out the artist’s signature – any ideas out there?

UPDATE: A reader has kindly let us know that the artist is Mary Leroux.

Oh, she’s here again – close up this time. You can stop photographing her now, Justin!

They’ll look good hanging on the wall in our antiques centre space so that’s where they’re heading first, but we’re happy to post if your interested in buying them.

Bernard Buffet still life vintage print

Adelle bought herself this Bernard Buffet still life print for her birthday way back in November last year. It’s entitled Nature morte a la citrouille or Still Life with Pumpkin and was originally painted in 1955. This print was made in the 1970s.

We’ve blogged about Bernard Buffet before, he’s one of our favourite artists.

We finally got it framed – a great job done by the friendly folks at Abacus. It’s found the perfect home above the wrought iron bed in our guest bedroom.

Colin Ruffell

pair of vintage Colin Ruffell oil paintings

We bought these two fabulous paintings at auction recently.

They’re interior scenes with a very distinctive style. Our attention was grabbed from across the large saleroom.

The items in these room settings don’t scream 1960s/70s, but the style of painting somehow does.

The artist is Colin Ruffell. Born in 1939, he has been a professional artist for nearly 50 years and has exhibited all over the world.

We love the composition, colour & tones of these works…

…also the textural quality with the bold application of paint.

Don’t you just love the bottle & glass – or the plates on the dresser?

The artist is still working today and we’ve been perusing his website recently. There are originals, printsbooks too.

We’re still drawn to his still lives with their naive style, but also love his impressionist depictions of London & Brighton.
