Homemakers Community Recycling* is currently selling this lovely little vintage, floor-standing 50s kitchen cupboard. Its ‘buy it now’ price of £30 is very fair but they’re open to offers. And, if your not local to Abergavenny and/or you’re not able to collect, they’re happy to arrange delivery with Abbey Couriers (who we’ve used in the past and are very happy to recommend).

We regularly feature 50s kitchen cupboards on our Charity Vintage series. They’re very popular, we love vintage free-standing kitchen units, they’re practical, attractive, built to last and importantly – very affordable! This week the world saw the space probe Philae land on a comet after a 10-year, 4-billion mile journey. To a person living in the 1950s this story would feel like utter science fiction. Back then there’d have been no astronauts, no moon landing, no space shuttles. The first living being in orbit didn’t happen until 1957.

This set of Astounding Science Fiction magazines from 1955 is being sold by & in support of CLIC Sargent*. The cover artwork is sensational I bet the stories are too! They have other sets of this title currently for sale alongside sets of Thrilling Wonder Stories, Fantastic Adventures, Space Science Fiction and if Worlds of Science Fiction. If you’re a sci-fi or pulp fiction buff – these would be fantastic additions to your collection.

This is a really unusual little 1950s triangular table. Perfect for a cosy corner. It has a pretty patterned yellow Formica type top and slightly splayed, tapered black painted legs.

It’s being sold by St Peter’s Hospice*. It’s current high bid is £22.57 and P&P is a further £12.99 but you’re welcome to collect from them if you’re able to get to Bristol.

*St Peter’s Hospice is Bristol’s Hospice, caring for people in the local area who are living with incurable cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. Last year they cared for over 2,000 local people and their families. All their services are provided completely free of charge and they rely on donations and legacies from the local community to help them continue providing their specialised care to those who need it.

The ‘atomic’ influenced items we sell in our shop are always popular – especially the coat hooks and magazine racks. They look good and are useful and functional. This atomic magazine rack being sold by & in support of Isabel Hospice* is fairly unusual in its shape – a little more fancy than the norm. Its perfect for storing & displaying this month’s interiors mags… or even vintage 1950s copies of Vogue!

*Isabel Hospice is a charity needing to raise nearly 4 million per annum to provide their free services to the people of eastern Hertfordshire. Their ethos is that they treat the whole person, not simply the illness. They offer a complete hospice service through their team of community nurse specialists, a 16 bed in-patient hospice, a day hospice, out-reach day hospices, hospice at home and a family support and bereavement service.
