Put it in your diary!

Hey, it’s October – the new school year has begun, many universities get under way next week. And, yes, Christmas and the new year are just around the corner. Good thing we’ve been super efficient and already have our personalised 2018 H is for Home diary to hand!

We can’t take all the credit for being organised though; TOAD got in touch with us to collaborate on a review and give-away for our readers. TOAD^®, which stands for TodayOrAnyDay, is giving someone the opportunity to design their very own personalised, customised, hand-made diary.

Even though I have a calender app on my laptop, nothing beats good old pen & paper. I find the act of writing something down genuinely helps me remember it! We’ve got Bags of Love!

Bags of Love is offering one of our readers one of their personalised triptych canvas artworks. A lovely way to pep up the walls in your bedroom or lounge.

The example on offer measures 90cm x 30cm – each of the three panels is 30cm₂. Upload photos to the Bags of Love from your mobile phone, computer or Facebook or Instagram accounts. You can even chose from their own image library.

I downloaded the lovely photograph above of the Ribblehead Viaduct from the internet to practice making an artwork.

It was just the right ratio for the job – 3 times wider than tall – it created a trio of perfect squares.

I tried again with a photograph of one of Justin’s favourite locations in the country – the Langdale Pikes in the Lake District.

It wasn’t the exact size to slot into three equal squares, however you can resize and crop the image until you’re happy with the composition.

You can also use three separate images – for example, a portrait of your 3 children… or your pets!

Burn baby burn!

For this month’s competition, we have a fantastic prize that you’ll use all year round. We’ve teamed up with Certainly Wood to offer one of our readers a bucket of Flamers firelighters.

We’ve been trialling these Flamers recently and we can really sing their praises. They’re a wonderful product – renewable, untreated wood shavings dipped in refined wax. They have a long burn which makes lighting fires easy and reliable. Also, there’s none of the harsh, chemical aromas that you get from other types of firelighter.

And as if that wasn’t enough, they actually look great too. They’re attractive additions to the fireside in the same way a basket of logs gives a natural, cosy look to a room. In addition to wood burners and open fires, they’re also perfect for barbecues and pizza ovens. We’re complete converts and won’t be using anything else in the future.

It’s a stick up!

As we said yesterday, we’ve been slowly turning our home office into a place where we actually want to work. It had become a bit of a dumping ground for clothes and shoes and stacked boxes of shop stock. We’ve cleared it all away and it’s looking like an actual room again!

As part of our home office makeover, we’ve installed a lovely, custom-made adhesive chalkboard provided by Inkmill Vinyl. We can quickly jot down packing lists, event dates, item requests, phone messages and so on.

This month, we’re giving someone the opportunity to win their own sticker, decal or wall art up to the value of £50.

Stick up a height chart for a kid’s bedroom, adhere opaque patterned film to the bathroom window or create a statement wall by affixing your favourite poem or inspirational quote. There are so many options & possibilities!
