Price Points: Water carbonators

Water carbonators

I may have mentioned at some point in the past that I’m not a great fan of drinking plain water. Also, if I really have to drink a glass of the stuff, I prefer fizzy water to flat. Finally, if I really, really must drink water, my favoured way of imbibing is adding a large glug of elderflower cordial.

I don’t like buying bottles of water – even less, if the bottles are plastic. The water that comes out of our taps makes its short journey from the Teifi Pools and tastes lovely! A water carbonator would be a great addition to our kitchen appliance repertoire. It would encourage me to drink more water.

Here are three water carbonators that I found online. I thought that a classic SodaStream would be the most affordable, however, their basic model comes in at £70.00. The Aarke carbonator is an absolute modernist beauty, and is available in a range of colours to complement any kitchen décor; black, gold, brass, copper, steel, white. However, I’d have to be sure that I’d be drinking a lot of fizzy water, every day of the week, to shell out over £100.00.

Loughrigg Tarn, Langdale, Lake District | H is for Home

In last week’s Wednesday Wish post, we mentioned a recent trip we took to the Lake District.

We thought we’d just share a few snaps of our short stay – perhaps for any fellow Lake District lovers who haven’t been for a while (and are in need a quick ‘virtual visit’)… or maybe for anyone who’s always fancied going and needs just a little further tempting.

How about this for a view to wake up to?

For all you campers out there – this photo was taken at the Baysbrown Farm campsite in the Great Langdale valley.

The stunning, seasonal colours had started to emerge…

…and we had a couple of those glorious autumn days with morning mists giving way to bright sunshine.

Around every corner you find beauty – whether on a small or large scale.

We have some very nice walking country of our own here in Yorkshire where we live…

…however, Lakeland really takes some beating!

Out & about… January

December started with a cold snap… and January began in the same way.

We often come across these old baths while wandering around the local fields. How about this for al fresco living? It was about -3ºC on the day we saw these – tempted to take a dip anyone?

And what about this twin-tub arrangement?

We spent a week away in the Lake District in the middle of the month. Unfortunately, we got 7 solid days of mist & rain.

The area still manages to be beautiful even in the worst of weathers though.

We stayed in Elterwater and spent our time walking in the surrounding hills… and then drying off in front of fires in our cottage … or the Britannia, the local village pub.

Fudge was always waiting for his next walk… of which there were many!

We did break it up with a day’s shopping, spending a couple of hours in Windermere. We picked up a few things including these immaculate 1970s headphones and some Holmegaard glass candle holders.

We also stocked up on nice things to eat and drink at Booths. It’s a small chain of food stores in the North of England – and a firm favourite of ours.

Last week we spent a day taking photos in Manchester – we’ll be doing a blog in the near future about vintage shopping in the city – we’ll keep you posted!
