There are certain patterns with which you can’t be timid. So, when the owner of Browse Cottage asked, “How much leopard print is too much leopard print?”, the correct answer will always be, “No such thing!”. Just ask Bet Lynch!

Her ‘Lady Muck’ sofa, which takes pride of place in the lounge, is upholstered in leopard print and there are a couple of throw cushions too. The stairs are carpeted in it and there’s a matching rug at the bottom. Leopard print vinyl covers the glass panels in the door. There’s a wall hung leopard head planter, a beaker, vase and a few art prints. She even has a big ceramic leopard figure that she’s named Larry!

This bling interiors space is a riot of colour, pattern and shine. Chris Beaumont designs and sells a range of these fab side tables in his Etsy shop.

He’s one half of husband & wife duo, The Electric Penguin. Their home – which was the epitome of bland magnolia throughout when they moved in – has been transformed. It’s now funky and fun and full of their DIY and upcycling marvels.

There’s a new-ish interiors trend in town – it’s called Japandi and, as the name suggests, it’s a blend of Japanese and Scandinavian styles.

Both cultures are known for unfussy, pared-back product and interior design. It’s no surprise that the likes of Muji and IKEA have both taken the rest of the world by storm.

We came across this setting above and thought that it illustrates the Japandi style very well.

Kris Manalo, senior upholstery buyer at Heal’s, sums up the Japandi trend perfectly:

Aspects of the Scandi notion of ‘hygge’ and Japanese ‘wabi-sabi’ harmonise to create a stress-free atmosphere… these pieces allow people to create a clean, calm environment in which they can truly unwind

If you’d like to explore this blended trend further, a new book, Japandi Style: When Japanese and Scandinavian Designs Blend, is being published in early October 2022.

A post shared by Geri – Interior, life & style (@overatno18)

I love this glass box extension – it’s one of the best of its kind that I’ve seen. The wraparound, folding Crittal-style glass doors are simply spectacular. Flung open wide, they make you feel as though you’re outside in the garden. With the unpredictable British weather, they can be shut quickly and easily, and you can still experience the al fresco vibes from the inside!

Geri’s beautiful home (and her fashion sense too!) is right up my street. Flashes of bright, happy colours everywhere. Tangerine orange always stops me in my tracks; the pair of vintage swivel armchairs teamed with the huge teal sofa forms a cosy, sociable grouping.

The layout of the glass box extension is the perfect arrangement for 21st century domestic life. Zoned yet open; The person doing the food prep or washing up is still wholly involved in what’s going on; whether it’s the kids doing their homework sitting at the breakfast bar or dinner party guests enjoying a glass of wine while sitting on the sofa.

Like this one, many of her posts are before & after carousels – it’s always an inspiration seeing other people’s renovation journeys. Go have a browse of her Instagram feed for a dose of interior… and fashion happiness!
