What are the best fire table shapes for different patio layouts? The top 5 options

What are the best fire table shapes for different patio layouts? The top 5 options

When you’re planning the perfect patio layout, the shape of your fire table plays a key role in the overall design. Different patio sizes and styles may call for specific fire table shapes; like round, square or rectangular. Understanding the benefits and uses of each shape can help you make the best choice for your outdoor space.

Round fire tables are popular due to their ability to provide a cosy, social gathering point. These tables allow everyone to enjoy the warmth evenly, making them a great choice for intimate settings. Whether you’re looking to create a dining area or a relaxed seating space, exploring fire tables for different patio layouts can offer plenty of inspiration and options.

Round fire tables: Perfect for central placement in circular patios

Round fire tables are a great choice when you have a circular patio. They fit naturally into the shape of the space, giving a pleasing look.

These tables distribute heat evenly, making them ideal for gatherings. You and your guests can enjoy sitting around the table with warmth, reaching everyone equally.

When placed at the centre of the patio, a round fire table becomes a focal point. It encourages conversation and creates a cosy atmosphere. The design lets everyone have an easy, clear view of the fire.

If you’re deciding on patio furniture, consider how you’ll arrange seating. Adirondack chairs or curved sectionals pair well, improving both function and style.

Square fire tables: Ideal for corner setups in symmetric patio layouts

Square fire tables with symmetrical designs are a great choice for patios. Their equal sides make it easy to fit them in a corner or centre spot, creating balance in your outdoor area.

If your patio has sharp lines and angles, a square fire table can match this look perfectly. It gives a modern feel, adding a clean and organised touch to your space. With various options, you can find one that matches your style and needs.

These tables often provide a central point for gatherings. Their shape allows seating on all sides, which is perfect for social events. Whether you’re enjoying a quiet evening or hosting friends, square fire tables offer a cosy atmosphere.

Consider materials like concrete or metal for durability. Many designs come in versatile colours, making it easy to coordinate with other patio furniture.

Rectangular fire tables: Suited for narrow patios or elongated spaces

Rectangular fire tables are a great choice for long or narrow patios. Their shape makes them perfect for saving space while still providing a cosy area for gatherings. These tables can fit along the length of a patio, allowing you to use your outdoor areas more efficiently.

In elongated spaces, a rectangular fire table can become the centrepiece. It offers plenty of room for people to sit around, making it ideal for larger gatherings. Whether entertaining guests or enjoying a quiet evening, these tables can meet different needs.

For long patios, consider placing rectangular fire tables along one side. This placement allows for easy movement around the table, making it a versatile option for various patio layouts. Whether your patio is narrow or elongated, rectangular fire tables can help maximise the space and provide a great spot for relaxation.

Hexagonal fire tables: A unique choice for eclectic or modern patio designs

When you want to add a unique touch to your patio, hexagonal fire tables are a great choice. Their shape stands out, making them perfect for modern and eclectic designs. These tables can be a focal point in your outdoor space, drawing attention and sparking conversations.

Their geometric shape complements various patio setups. If you have curved seating arrangements or an eclectic mix of furniture, a hexagonal fire table can fit well. It brings an interesting visual contrast that adds character.

Another advantage of hexagonal fire tables is their ability to provide warmth and style without taking up too much space. They’re functional and stylish, offering a cosy place for gatherings.

Oval fire tables: Complement larger patios with soft lines and ample space

Oval fire tables are a great choice for larger patios. Their curved edges provide a smooth look that can soften the overall appearance of your outdoor space. These shapes work well when you want a relaxed and inviting atmosphere.

The size of oval tables allows for more guests to gather around comfortably. This makes them perfect for hosting gatherings or family get-togethers. The ample space creates room for chairs without feeling cramped.

Choosing an oval fire table can also add a unique style to your patio. Its shape stands out compared to more traditional square or round options. If you have a spacious patio layout, this may be a good fit.

Oval tables are available in various materials. Whether you prefer a classic or modern look, you’ll find an option that suits your taste. These tables can be a centrepiece in your outdoor area, drawing attention without overpowering the space.

Conclusion

When choosing a fire table for your patio, the shape plays a big role in both function and design.

Round fire tables create an intimate atmosphere and are great for smaller gatherings. They also fit well in tight spaces, like circular or smaller patios.

Square or rectangular fire tables are more suitable for larger areas. Their linear design complements modern patios and allows for more seating options.

Select a shape that complements your outdoor space and fits your lifestyle needs.

Hosting the perfect garden party: Tips for outdoor entertaining

Hosting the perfect garden party: Tips for outdoor entertaining

Few things are as impressive and appealing as a garden party on a warm, sunny day. Imagine spending an evening with your friends surrounded by nature and greenery with a cool breeze whistling through the trees. It’s relaxing and the perfect scene for connecting and sharing stories with your family and friends.

But a garden gathering isn’t any easier to host than an indoor party. If you want to impress your guests, you’ll need to do more than just set up a few chairs and set out some nibbles. Below are a few tips for making your garden party elegant and memorable.

Consider an outdoor venue alternative

The first thing you should do is make sure your garden has enough space for all your guests. Having your attendees crammed together with little elbow room will make the atmosphere less comfortable or enjoyable.

One way you can avoid this is to hire a garden. You can find lots of outdoor venues London, allowing you to host as many people as you like. Hosting your party at an outdoor venue gives a refreshing change of scenery, making the event feel even more special.

Another benefit of hiring a garden for your party is that it removes a lot of your logistical headache. If your home garden’s landscaping isn’t quite party-ready, you can simply book a place that matches your taste. Plus, most outdoor venues provide seating, lighting and even catering, allowing you to focus on your guests.

Setting the scene

You don’t need to turn your back garden into the impossibly picturesque gardens you see on Pinterest or in magazine spreads. Simply select a theme and let nature do the rest. Some popular garden party themes include vintage tea party, tropical and minimalist.

If your garden is more slab than green, a few well-placed potted plants, outdoor rugs and string lights can transform the place.

Create a comfortable sitting area

Ensuring ample seating keeps guests comfortable and engaged. Make sure there are enough chairs for everyone. If your crowd is laid-back, you can provide floor cushions for a relaxed, boho feel.

But all this will only work if you choose your seating area carefully. If it’s sunny, you want your main gathering area to have some natural shade from trees to keep your guests cool. If there isn’t enough shade, you can hire a marquee.

Focus on the table setting

Setting the table can tell your guests that your garden party is well-thought-out. It helps set the tone for the evening, making dining more enjoyable. Additionally, it can improve the aesthetics of your space.

If your party is more casual, like a backyard BBQ, you don’t need a formal tablescape. Still, you can add a few small centrepieces to add charm without going overboard.

Keep the party food simple

Finger foods are your best choice for garden parties. You want something people can grab while mingling. Think mini sliders, Parmesan truffle chips and fresh fruit. If everything can be eaten with one hand while holding a drink in the other, then you’re doing it right.

Speaking of drinks, a self-serve bar is your best friend. Set up a table with a few signature cocktails, mocktails and punches. Not only does this keep guests happy, but it also means you’re not playing bartender all night.

Remember to keep it simple and focus on the vibe. Hosting the perfect garden party isn’t about perfection, but more about creating a night that people will remember for all the right reasons.

Price Points: Argentine asado grills

Argentine asado grills

One of the lots that we featured on a recent Auction Alert post was an Argentine barbecue. Someone got themselves a great deal; it sold for £200.00… a lot less than the estimate.

Barbecues, known as asados in Argentina and other South American countries, are cooked on grills called parrillas. Over here, we refer to them as asado grills.

We had a look at the range of asado grills available online, and like any other type of cooking kit, they’re available in a wide range of prices. The ‘basic’ model, to me, doesn’t really come across as an asado – it’s a barbecue. The ‘better’ example, with its oil drum design, is known as a chulengo. This would be my choice, as it keeps the meat and the vegetables well apart during cooking… always my worry at a BBQ. The ‘luxury’ option is a crazy price; aimed at lottery winners, Premiership footballers and professional asado restaurants and caterers. It’s beautiful though!

  1. Asado uBer-Q barbecue, rotisserie, grill plate and carry bag: £169.99, Lakeland

The stainless steel dual grill plate has air holes on one half, as well as a solid half for frying, so you can cook and fry multiple items at the same time without needing a separate pan. There’s also a powerful rotisserie motor, which is easily hooked onto one end of the barbecue, and drives either the spit forks for cooking larger pieces of meat, or the kebab accessory, which can cook up to six kebabs at a time. And with a choice between loose charcoal or an instant barbecue cartridge, there are a number of ways to fuel it too.
    • Portable and versatile barbecue
    • Stainless steel dual cooking pan
    • Two rotisserie functions
    • Folds flat to fit into a handy carry bag
    • Takes loose coals or instant BBQ cartridge
    • 55 x 35 x 45cm H.

  2. Asado Argentine style Santa Maria double barrel charcoal grill: £650.00, eBay

The Double Barrel Grill has 2 separate grilling racks which can be raised & lowered over the fire by two separate round wheeled hand cranks. This means a variety of different food items can be cooked at different temperatures, but all at the same time. It also means that veggie food can be cooked on a completely different grill. Whether it’s cooking at home or for a large gathering, the double barrel won’t disappoint. All components are removable and the stand is collapsible making it easy to clean and transport.
The racks and the stand are manufactured from 3mm steel and will last a lifetime. The barrel is a classic 45 gallon drum which over time is cheap and easy to replace. The grill also comes with 2 separate coal grates.

Asado style cooking (large pieces of meat) also available at the front of brasero (wood burner) on the spits (provided) with adjustable height and distance positions against the fire.
The Grill mounted on the heavy duty stand made of 50mm square tubing, two removable stainless steel shelves at the bottom and heavy duty braked casters wheels.

Price Points: Outdoor pizza ovens

Outdoor pizza ovens

Move over barbecues, you’re now passé – outdoor pizza ovens are the al fresco cooking gadgets to own these days!

The most basic pizza oven comes in at just over 150 quid – but for one that has all the bells & whistles and looks like a supermodel, prepare to pay up to five grand! I think I’d invest in the budget example in the first instance – see how often it gets a workout. If enthusiasm doesn’t wane and the British weather allows for regular use, I’d think about upgrading to the mid-range Ooni. Much as the canary yellow Charlie catches my eye (it’s also available in 7 other beautiful colours), I can’t imagine spending that amount of money on an oven – unless it’s an Esse range that’s indoors, sees everyday use and helps to heat the house!

  1. Outdoor tabletop pizza oven: £159.99, Vonhaus

Fuelled by pellets and including a pizza stone to give you that authentic stone-baked flavour, you can also use this oven for smoking fish, meat or vegetables.
The double layer design allows for a hotter inner temperature to have your pizza ready in no time, and the speedy heat up means it will be ready for cooking in only 15 minutes reaching temperatures of up to 350°C. Finished off with an ash collector, tidying up is even quicker.
With a max pizza size of 13 inches, this is a perfect pizza oven for a pizza making night with the family.

When all the slices are gone, the removable chimney and foldable legs allows for easy storage until next time.

  2. Ooni Karu 16 multi-fuel pizza oven: £699.00, Ooni

Multiple fuel options for maximum cooking versatility
Cook with wood or charcoal out of the box, or use gas with the Ooni Karu 16 Gas Burner (sold separately)
    Reaches 500°C (950°F) in just 15 minutes
New hinged oven door design with ViewFlame™ technology to boost visibility
Mounted digital thermometer displays internal ambient oven temperature (batteries included)
Large cooking area fits up to 16-inch pizzas and other substantial cooks

  3. Charlie outdoor charcoal oven: £4,950.00, Charlie

Charcoal BBQ, pizza oven, smoker, charcoal grill
Crafted from the finest quality stainless steel, and comes with a powder-coated finish in a choice of 8 vibrant colours.
Charlie is weatherproof and designed to work whatever the weather! Unlike top-opening barbecues or ovens, our front-opening design minimises heat loss and the impact of the weather conditions.
Charlie’s sealed design and superior thermal insulation mean it uses 45% less charcoal than an open grill. As a result, one modest load of charcoal will last for around six hours.
Charlie has 2.5 times the capacity of a domestic oven! It has nine cooking rack positions to allow many different cooking options. Cook indirectly (away from the fire) or directly (close to the fire). The cooking racks are professional-grade, and each oven comes with two racks as standard.
