A rare day

Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II - Chris Levine entitled, "Lightness of Being"

Today has been a rare day; indeed, it’s been a rare week and more. We spent many hours watching the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II on the television. Despite us not being royalists, we greatly respect and admire the late Queen.

It was all so moving; the readings, the slow procession of uniformed troops through London, the sound of the massed pipes and drums, the crowds, the Queen’s favourite pony, the corgis and most of all, the lone piper at end of the Windsor service. Who does ceremony and pageantry as well as the British?

It’s National Camera Day today!

We’d certainly be lost without ours. The camera is an essential piece of kit for our lifestyle & business – whether it’s the blogging or selling side of things. We like one that’s compact in size, but has a good quality lens – with ‘point & shoot’ and ‘messing about’ options!

We’ve actually got two of what we’d call ‘proper’ cameras – so there’s always one available for home shoots, auction views, markets or days out… plus 2 camera phones of course. No excuse not to get the shot then!

To mark the day we’ve chosen a selection of favourite ‘camera collectables’ we found on Etsy.

This image encapsulates so much of what interests us – interiors, cooking, styling, photography. The colours in the kitchen are so very Scandinavian – steely monochrome greys – cool, understated and sophisticated.

Stockholm-based Grimsgård has a gorgeous portfolio of interiors, fashion, food and portraiture shots – this is one of our favourites.

I stumbled across someone who may be my new favourite photographer (well, 2nd favourite after Justin, of course!). Chris Court is an Australia-based photographer who shoots travel and interiors but it’s his amazing food photography that I truly love! All sexy, delectable and atmospheric. Check out his website to see the most irresistible chocolate, caramel and coffee photographs.
