Red – one of the three primary colours. The colour of danger, of anger of the femme fatale. There are so many shades & hues – tomato, blood, scarlet, crimson, ruby, fire engine!
A colour used extensively in mid-century modern design – think the balls on atomic coat hooks, Lucienne Day’s Calyx patterned fabric and Midwinter’s Domino crockery.
A surprisingly versatile colour for use in home décor. It goes well with black or white, silver or gold – brown, cream, blue or green (but it’s probably best to leave the latter one just for Christmastime!) 🙂
