This featured house is a beautiful converted Swedish farmhouse next to the sea – no wonder it’s referred to as an ‘idyll’!

Owners Maria and Sam, respectively a textile designer and an artist, spend the summer months decamped here from Stockholm for 6 months of the year.

It’s just about perfect for our taste. All the rooms in the house look so comfortable, cosy and lived in.

A natural, neutral palette with flashes of a brighter hue.

Anyone who’s seen our house know we love bright colours in a kitchen and this one has got real punch!

The spaces are full of texture – the furniture, the crockery, decorative objects and fabric of the building itself.

There are beautiful floors throughout, wide wooden floorboards and lovely, worn stone tiles…

…covered over here and there with various rugs and mats.

A simple, unfussy outdoor eating area to take in the views rounds things off perfectly.

Jie Gantofta biscuit jar for sale in support of Dove House Hospice on eBay for Charity
(ends 2 Sep, 2013 20:27:39 BST)

We’ve long admired Anita Nylund’s designs for Jie Gantofta. Folky, colourful and most importantly useful. A collection of these jars looks fab in a vintage kitchen. We’ve come across containers in this range for tea, coffee, sugar, sugar shakers, salt & pepper shakers, salt pots, dried fruit, raisins, rice, spice jars, pickles and fish (?!).

Here’s a Jie Gantofta biscuit jar currently being sold on eBay for Charity in support of Dove House Hospice*. It’s already over £20 and it ends in a couple of days, so if you want to start or add to your collection get bidding quick!

*Dove House Hospice offers specialist palliative care to adults with life-limiting illnesses. Palliative care is the total care of a patient whose disease is no longer able to be cured. There is no charge for our services & we rely on funds raised in the community.

I’ve just discovered the website of estate agents Alvhem Mäkleri och Interiör. They don’t seem like any estate agency I’ve ever encountered – they seem, well… NICE! They’re all about impeccable standards, passion for properties, not doing the hard sell.

Their site is brimming with gorgeous photos of the interiors & exteriors of some of their apartments -I’d be lining up to put an offer in on any single one of them!
