We’ve been doing our thrice daily dog walks in some pretty atrocious weather of late. The kettle goes on straight away when we walk through the door! A choice of nice mugs can only enhance that reviving hot brew.

Here are a few lovely examples that caught our eye in a quick trawl of the web’s offerings.

set of 3 vintage aluminium measuring cups for sale on eBay for Charity in support of The Martlets Hospice
(ends 27 Oct, 2013 17:38:40 GMT)

It’s the final of The Great British Bake Off next week so it’s only right that we pay homage in this Charity Vintage post.

One of the most used tools in our kitchen is our little, vintage aluminium measuring cup. It’s used when we cook rice, feed our sourdough starter and make cakes.

There’s a lovely set of 3 measuring cups currently on offer on eBay for Charity where 100% of the proceeds go to The Martlets Hospice in Hove. They were originally measures for Lyon’s Tea – and measure 1 ounce, 3 portions & 2 portions so, of course, can still be used for this purpose if you’re partial to brewing & serving your tea in pots!

*The Martlets Hospice is an independent charity, caring for adults with a life-limiting disease where a cure is no longer possible, in the Brighton & Hove area. Specialist palliative care is provided for patients. Support is given to families and carers during the patients’ illness and into bereavement.

We picked up a lovely little item this week that we wanted to share with you.

It’s a set of four vintage 60s/70s Staffordshire Potteries mugs… complete with original carrying tray & lids. Not only do we love the design & colours of this set, it’s the fact that all its bits are intact – a rare survivor!

They’re great for cups of tea when you’re working in the garden – the lids keep it warm until you’re ready to drink keep the flies out (and are the perfect place to put a biscuit or two!). They’d also be good for the office – you’ll need to use the whole set when it’s your turn to make a brew.
