Love Logs is smoking hot!

Love Logs is our kind of indie brand. Heather & Paul launched their company only last summer, in the hope of making a difference in the firewood industry. Like us, they’re concerned about the proliferation of single use plastic in the trade. Also of concern, is the 1,500+ ‘wood miles’ much of the UK’s firewood travels to get here from Eastern Europe… that was news to us!

This month, our giveaway is going local! Driftwood Designs is an independent art & homewares shop based in Aberystwyth, on the West Wales coast; a 10-mile car ride from where we live.

It’s from their new premises on Pier Street in the centre of town that childhood friends – artist, Lizzie and business brain, Becky – run their successful company.

The shop is stocked with products such as original artwork, ceramics and textiles to stationery, wrapping paper & greeting cards.

As well as their bricks & mortar space, Driftwood Designs has an extensive online shop for people who can’t visit in person.

I think my favourite is probably this mackerel artwork below that can be found on cards, badges, textiles, clocks and limited-edition & fine art prints.

Happy St David’s Day everyone! Spring is finally upon us – we’ve spent most of this sunny weekend working and relaxing in the garden.

This month, we have a nautical cushion (worth £66.00, feather pad included) in Sarah Jane Hemsley‘s Waverley pattern to give away to one of our readers. The range is inspired by the world’s last remaining seagoing paddle steamer that sails from the Firth of Clyde. In fact, Sarah Jane donates 10% of her sales to the Navigation Co Ltd toward the ongoing maintenance of PS Waverley.

The Bulloch Collection is my new range of digitally printed designs primarily for textiles. Each design is based on a land or seascape of the Isle of Bute, my childhood home, which sits just off the west coast of Scotland. The artwork is taken from original screen printed ink drawings by local artist and family friend, Lyn Bulloch.

We’ve been running a competition every month for over 7 years now. Judging by the entries we’ve had, we can confidently say that one of the things our readers like the most is a scented candle. Well, this month we have a trio of scented eco soya candles from Knara to give away.

The candles we have on offer this month are chocolate & posh honey scented and come in graduated sized lidded glass jars.

Nestled in the rolling hills of Shropshire, Knara make all their scented candles to order. They’re carefully created, hand-poured and left to cure for 48 hours. All their candles are vegan friendly and additive free. Everything is wrapped and boxed using bio-degradable packaging.

Something they do that I’ve not seen anywhere else, is they upcycle the wax wastage from the candles they’ve sold you. Simply return it to them and they’ll remould it and make as many tea lights as they can and send back to you – free of charge! Isn’t that a great idea?
