Price Points: Hexagonal shelves

Selection of hexagonal shelves | H is for Home

Looking at the three hexagonal shelves in the photo, can you tell which one is 15 times the price of one of the others? The cheapest of the trio costs £10, the most expensive comes in at £150. The intermediate one is £77.74 for three – around £25.91 each.

Most of us would rather have 15 of the cheapest ones than just the single costly one. Thanks to their hexagonal shape, they can be used in a modular fashion, arranged to fit to the shape of the space on your wall.

'Hexagon Hive' Etsy list by H is for HomeDid you know that the hexagon – a six-sided polygon – is the most efficient and economical shape in nature? That’s why bees build their honeycomb using this shape. Unlike circles, hexagons leave no gaps when interlocked. And when compressed, the shape makes the structure even stronger… clever bees!

When you look into it, you’ll find there are lots of hexagons in nature – the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland, snowflakes, turtle shells, snakeskin, even groups of bubbles!
