She and her family have lived in their home for over 20 years, and the interior has seen many different incarnations. The current style is, “Dark Gothic Glam”.

Doesn’t this sugar candy-coloured combo make your heart sing? Jay, who lives in a Victorian townhouse in Orkney, has created a perfect blend of colour. Keeping the counter-tops and other horizontal & vertical surfaces clear of ‘stuff’ lets you appreciate the room in all its kaleidoscopic glory.

All the painting was done by Jay herself. And she has decorated the rest of the house (and lots of furniture too!) in similar vibrant hues.

This hygge kitchen diner belongs to Reena – Cardiff-based mother of three and award-winning blogger and founder of Hygge For Home.

Her entire home is absolutely breathtaking – she and her husband have transformed a tired & dated old bungalow into a modern, double-storey des res. The front elevation has sows of Crittal windows are framed by charred Siberian larch timber cladding.

The dark, industrial look is carried on into this kitchen diner. We love the custom-made oak and steel dining table and bench and the complementary open shelving made from scaffolding planks. The monochrome colour scheme is broken up with touches of copper; the cupboard handles, saucepans and pendant light.

This self-build house belongs to Tash South, South African born and London-based property developer, and owner of South Place Studio.

The focal point of Tash’s open-plan kitchen is that show-stopping brass kitchen island. I love all kinds of metallics in an interior, but I think brass is probably my favourite. Gold can sometimes be too flashy and stainless steel too cold – brass and copper really hit the sweet spot!

Those huge accordion-folding doors really bring the outdoors in and mirror the floor to ceiling black oak cabinetry on the opposite wall.
