Forthcoming Attractions: Late January 2017

Vintage Rolf Froyland Vikings plaque | H is for Home

We mentioned in yesterday’s post that, due to unforeseen circumstances, we’d not listed as many items as usual on our H is for Home website recently. It takes much more time to put things online than straight into our bricks & mortar shop space – and time has been in short supply of late.

However, the fightback has started! Here’s a selection of vintage goodies that we’ve photographed and listed today.

We really do like to spread pieces between physical and internet worlds – and with a bit more time available now hopefully, there should be much more to follow in the coming days and weeks!

H is for Home shop items

Here’s a small selection of this week’s favourite, vintage, soon-to-be H is for Home shop items.

Vintage green Rhythm pedestal clock

We’ll start with the clock – one of the best we’ve picked up in quite a while. It’s a vintage pedestal alarm clock made by Rhythm in the 1960s. The futuristic shape, vibrant emerald green face and wonderful condition all add to its overall appeal.

Vintage silver plate jug designed by Hans Bunde for Kohrs, Denmark

This silver plated jug is very striking too. It was designed by Hans Bunde for Kohrs of Denmark. It was filthy when we bought it, but a little silver polish has worked wonders!

Galt children's picture puzzle

We don’t do much charity shop trawling these days – well, not as much as we used to do. However, a visit to a new town recently meant we just had to pop into a few! We saw a pile of vintage children’s games in one window – they included a couple of boxes that had the Galt Toys logo which always piques our interest. They sometimes have fabulous illustrations by the likes of Kenneth Townsend for example. We liked the look of this alphabet puzzle. We didn’t want to spread the pieces all over the shop floor so took the risk that it would be complete when we got it home.

Complete it was – and rather lovely too! It dates from the 1960s era. It would look great on a long shelf or dado rail in a traditional nursery or children’s bedroom.

Vintage G-Plan side table

This small side table was produced by G Plan. It’s very sculptural and the wood grain is beautiful. We’ve just put it into our antique centre space to sit alongside a 1960s Danish teak armchair – and they make a great pairing.

Trio of vintage West German vases

And finally, the collection of West German vases. These are just three of twenty one vases that we bought at auction this week. They included some fabulous pieces by the likes of Dumler & Breiden, Carstens, and Scheurich. We’ll take a closer look at them in tomorrow’s post.

Here’s a quick peek at a few of our recent purchases.

We’ll start with fabrics – a lovely pair of heavy curtains with a striped pattern in blues, greens & turquoise – perfect for keeping out those coming winter draughts. There are more shades of gorgeous green and a groovy pattern in the duvet cover.

The pottery kitchen storage jars are from the Kleen Kitchen Ware range produced by Sadler – a classic 1950s look.

The pedestal alarm clock is by Rhythm  – its orange hour markers are a nice detail.
