Thursdays on our blog are usually given over to sharing a recipe. This week, we’ve been so busy with listing new stock in the H is for Home online shop that we’ve not had the time for much else!
Below, are just a few of the many vintage bits & bobs that we added yesterday and today. Simply click on each image to be taken to the individual item.
Here’s a selection of this past week’s vintage buys – quite a blast of colour!
We’ll start off with the West German vases – in gorgeous, vibrant shades of orange. One has the classic bubbling, fat lava glaze and the other a more uniform pattern of impressed marks. We like both styles – and they look great together.
Next up, we have a set of psychedelic bull plates – not exactly subtle shades either! We do love this fun and eccentric range of dinner ware.
This bright red clock is wonderful too – both functional and beautiful. Produced by Metamec in the 1950s/60s it would provide a real flash of vintage style & colour to a kitchen or office wall.
We’ve also picked up this trio of waste paper bins. The one with flowers is marked Worcester Ware – a company who produced some fabulous, everyday metalware. They’re perfect for kids bedrooms or nurseries.
Less bright, but no less attractive, is this collection of garden and laundry items. Last week’s Get their look post featured a lovely traditional laundry area. It had a couple of the vintage washboards on the wall which looked great. We’re big fans of painted and galvanised metal, in general – our own garden is full of old dolly tubs, wash baths, florists pots, dustbins and watering cans. They look attractive, weather nicely – and don’t shatter in the frost!

We’re featuring another fine piece of vintage 60s/70s British pottery this week. This Carltonware beefeater money box is a very collectable piece – one in a series that includes a Royal Coldstream guard, Scotsguard and British bobby.

We’d be tempted to have quite a collection if we were London dwellers!
We can’t resist a few pieces, even though we live out int’ sticks oop North.
We often see London-tastic products in the glossy interior magazines and websites – and we usually forget to bookmark them!
However, you’ll always find some good stuff at places like the London Transport Museum or V & A Museum web shops…
…and take a look at the “London Calling” Etsy Treasury that we’ve put together.
P.S. – Another special London event started last week – commemorating the original 1951 Festival of Britain.
We loaned a few items to Kiera Buckley-Jones from BBC Homes & Antiques Magazine. She has recreated rooms from the period. Read her blog series charting its development here. We’re hoping to take a little trip down south to see it before it finishes in September.
